July 23 I'm baaaaaccccckkkkk!!!Dang..has it been almost a year since I visited my own space??? I have been soooo busy. After vacation last year and right before the holidays...we moved our office/warehouse/shop. That was a major undertaking...I am still looking for stuff! LOL! Anyhoo, I feel like a total "heel". I used to really like reading all the blogs and communicating with you all. I don't know how time got away from me like this. I guess after 40 it is all downhill. It seems like just last week we started the summer and now here we are getting ready to go back to school. Guess what??!! We are getting ready to go back to Disney again in September. Another great birthday for me!!! But I fear this may be the last time my hubby lets me plan a trip to Disney....he's not quite as impressed with the whole Mickey experience that I am. But he'll plow through it and have a good time anyway. The kids are good...they have had a good summer and they are looking forward to going to Disney also. How have you all been? Surviving high gas prices and summer heat? Well, I guess I'll go back to work now. I promise to keep this space up better this time. Promise!! September 19 VacationWell, IT'S almost here. Just one more day and we are Disney World bound!!!! It is a lot of work getting ready for a long road trip!!! But the rewards will be bountiful!!! This is our First ever REAL family vacation. Sure we've had long weekends at the beach and other such stuff. But we have saved for 8 months and we are finally going!!! We got the best package available from a travel agent. We have hotel room, park hopper tickets and all meals for 4 days for a little over $1400.00 for the four of us!!! The $1300.00 we have saved will be just for "play money". Special suveniors and a special birthday meal at Margaritaville for my B-day the 25th. I have a relly good friend and her family goes to Disney about twice a year...she was instrumental in giving me tips about what to take and how to pack. FUN...FUN....for the next 6 days!!!! I'll let you all know how it was when we get back. Well, beter get back to work now. Got loose ends to clean up before I leave. Don't know how they are gonna get along without me...LOL!!! September 07 TGIF!!!Well, Friday's finally here...this has been the longest short week!!! Hope you all are having a great day!! WooHoo!!! Only 13 more days to vacation....hope vacation gives me a break from the mess I have gotten myself into at work. Not ready to talk about that yet though. Looking forward to the weekend for sure!! Cleaning house tomorrow then Sunday going out on the river for some ski & knee board action...lol!!! Kids are doing fine in school....not great but I guess we'll settle down and get on track soon. Anyhoo, you all have a great weekend and I'll try to get back to this Monday. August 31 I'm backWell, after all this time...I finally found this space thingy again. Boy, I totally forgot about this.....Did ya miss me??? Been terribly busy at work and home this summer. How have you all been??? Fine I hope. I am gonna make my rounds now and try visiting some spaces in my friends box. Hope you all are still here. Drop me a line if you get a chance. I promise to try to keep up with this now. Have a Safe Labor Day Weekend!! January 24 Goodbye MuseMonkeyI have just had time to get back here after reading about musemonkey...I don't know how many of you knew her but I only knew her for a short time...her's was the first blog I read and got hooked reading. A very warm person...when I started to blog....she was first to add to friends list and I visited her everyday via blogging...I read her last blog Jan 17 and thought all was well, until I read yesterday....very sad....she will be missed...but through her artwork she will continue to inspire and motivate...I send blessings and prayers to her family & friends that might read this. January 18 Moulin RougeWell, there you have it...the ball theme this year is "Mardi Gras at the Moulin Rouge". What fun!! I was invited to Madame's Tea on Sunday afternoon....since my aunt will be Madame next year...I'll get more involved with all the functions throughout the year...but only after this year's Madame's reign...FUN!! We were welcomed back into the Krewe like we never left....the same friendly folks were there and I even won a raffle...it was for a centerpiece Mardi Gras bear....I got to chose first...I picked the Queen Bear...it is so cute!! When I get the new computer up & going...I'll have lots of pics to show you all...beginnning with a photo of meself!!! I like to put faces with words...that way I feel like I know you better. The favors for the ladies from Madame was indeed a pin...it is a windmill...not sure how that fits in with Moulin Rouge...but it is shiny and has rhinestones...a nice addition to the collection. We even got lucky with the colors of the ball...red & purple...about four years ago hubby & I had matching costumes made for a parade ride...and guess what? They are purple & red...so that saves a lot of panic...not having to run around with a month to go til the parade & ball trying to either get something made or find something acceptable to wear. WHEW!! That was a load off the old noodle!! Can't you tell I am really looking forward to this? It is exciting and for a little moment in time you feel like a celebrity...at least that is what it makes me feel like...imagine being about 12 feet high on a beautiful glowing float and thousands of people screaming....."Hey Lady...throw me something!" Then at the ball we get to "come out" to the cheers of family & friends that are invited to the ball....Everything revolves around the comfort and enjoyment of the parade riders for a whole evening!!! We get in food lines & bar lines first....our photos are taken first....we rule!! Well, I could sit here and talk all day about Mardi Gras...but I guess I better get to work...afterall, I need more money to buy moonpies & beads....Ya'll have a good one and keep yourself safe out there...if you are dealing with all the icy weather plaguing the country right now...I hope you have everything you need and lots of heat. Till next time!! January 17 New computer on the wayI am so excited....hubby gave the greenlight to buy a new home computer....I know this may not be a big deal to some...but our first computer was bought when my oldest was little...so it is now about 10 years old...a true dinosaur...I got to go online and build my own computer on Dell...not as expensive as the first time we bought...we just really want one for my stuff like this...kids homework...ebay stuff...and for us all to learn more about this cyberworld...and guess what??? It came with a digital camera!!! It's here.....Well, Saturday kicks off the official Mardi Gras season here in Mobile. Acutally, Saturday is the first parade in the community of Dauphin Island...it really is an island...only accessible by a bridge or boat. A small family oriented community stock full of fishermen and island dwellers. It will be a good time and the kids really look forward to this one because it is not a structured as the parades in Mobile....we go early and set up grills, coolers (cold beer), and chairs...we eat & drink all day...hang around with people we haven't seen since last years parade and enjoy a fun Saturday. However, it might just be a bit cold this year...we are expecting temps in the 50's...I know to those of you out there in the mid-west and all the ice storms...that sounds tropical...but believe me...anything below the 60's here and we'll be bundled up like Eskimos LOL!! Anyway, tonight, hubby & I are attending our Mardi Gras's organization's Mandatory Meeting prior to parade & ball time. This is a really fun time...Madame Lavert will give all the ladies her favors for the ball...this is usually a rhinestone brooch that depicts the theme of the ball and the year...these are collected and kept for years to come. We usually wear our collections displayed on a mens tails coat...you know the kind of jacket men wear when they wear tuxedoes? Anyway, the more pins you have the longer ou have ridden and the more of a seasoned parader/mardi graser you are....FUN TIMES!!! This is the only stuff hubby & I do together...and look forward to is every year...After the holidays...it is fun to spend time with old friends and have good times....Viva La Mardi Gras!!! January 10 FinallyI don't get it...I've been trying for three days to get here to post my thoughts...maybe I'm doing something incorrectly in going about logging onto my space...who knows? Anyway, had a great weekend...went to the doctor Friday after work and got my miracle cure for the bronchstis stuff. Feel much better now. Family, friends and I went to the GMAC bowl parade Saturday night. Had a great time and what a prelude to our wonderful Mardi Gras season!! Took my children along with my neice Sunday to see Night at the Museum...must see!!! Crazy funny...everybody in the audience was actually laughing out loud. We don't go out to the movies that often since the coming aobut of Netflix...forgot how expensive it is...for the four of us to get in and then snacks (of course) at a matinee no less....I spent a smooth $50.00. We didn't even get candy for gosh sakes!!! Oh, well, we had a good time and it made for a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon!! Feel blessed that I had the money to even do it after all! Well, the latest news about my beloved Mardi Gras....i don't have to buy a new dress!!! It turns out that hubby & I are going to actually ride in a parade this year (again), therefore, I will wear my costume to the ball....believe me...much more comfortable and cheaper. Who can't have a good time in shorts and tennis shoes....dance...dance....dance!!! Hoping you all are doing great out there...we have pretty weather here...never mind that weather thingy on my blog space...it is not raining and we have very little chance of rain through the weekend...actually it is sunny and temps in the 60's for day and 40's for night. Might even feel like doing some yard work this weekend (NOT!!). To everybody, have a great week and weekend! I'll try to get back here before then but if I don't make it....Bless you all!! January 04 Back to normal..what's normal!Well, the holiday season is officially over...it is back to school for the small people today...Woo Hoo!! They've been sleeping way too late and staying up even way too later!! Now it's back to homework and schedules...although I did promise them that I would take them to see "Night at the Museum" this weekend...we are expecting a rainy, nasty weekend...so a trip to the movies will be a fun and expensive outing for us. Am I crazy or is anybody esle looking forward the the upcoming Tv events? Tonight...the show about people trying out to be Danny & Sandy in a Broadway production of Grease...I LOVE that movie....then Sunday night My Donald returns with a new Apprentice show in LA...ER tonight!! How can anybody expect me to get anything productive done till about Monday or so...the only thing better will be getting to watch Urban Cowboy anytime I want since I got the DVD for Christmas....Imagine the faces of the people around me at the sale bin in Wally World when I found that DVD for $5.00.....I acted like I had found Gold!! Really, a grown woman acting like a tenny bopper over an old movie...just one of life's simple pleasures that I enjoy. I also bought two of the old Elvis movies...Girls, Girls, Girls and Roustabout! Great fun!! I filled my stocking with pure joy!! For now we will enjoy a few weeks of routine and school/work until my favorite season is upon us here is this part of the world Mardi Gras!! A almost three week event filled with parades, balls, family get togethers and seeing friends I haven't seen since last Mardi Gras...hanging out on the streets of downtown...drinking, eating, laughing way too much to be healthy!! I'll keep you all posted of the festivities as they unfold...for now I am searching for a perfect ball gown since I am retiring the two I had last year. It would not be proper to be seen at any ball this year with a gown from last year!!! Starting to buy throws for our parade ride on Joe Cain Sunday...this is the one event my husband & I enjoy together since this is an "adults only" day!!! You can jost imagine how much Miller Lite we can comsume from 8:00am til 2:00am the next day...or course with lots of King cake and moonpies in between!! Till later... December 29 Post ChristmasWell, it's all over now...had a wonderful Christmas!! Santa called the children Christmas Eve and that really excited them...we were at my brother's house and Santa talked to all the children...they were so excited..you couldn't have smeared the smiles from their faces...when we got home my two went straight to bed...but they were up at 3:40am!!! We ate too much and had a wonderful day together. I finally got the most prized possession II've only been hinting about it for two years)My husband & children gave me a 6 foot lighted palm tree and two lighted pink flamingos!! Made my year!! December 22 Thanks to allJust wanted to stop by and let everyone know how much I have enjoyed meeting you all. I find your lives interesting and entertaining. Hope you all have a Blessed Christmas and Prosperous New Year! Thank you for visiting my space and leaving comments. I will be back after the LOONNGGG weekend!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! December 20 Keeping secretsWell, I don't know about you all...but I am about to bust at the seams...I am so excited that Christmas is almost here. i have one last thing to do before calling it quits with the running around...grocery shop! Then it's time to cook...bake...cook...bake...I got the recipe for the Ugly Cake from Fat Cyclist space and I am going to try that one out of the family this year...it sound delicious to me...I'm sure they will like it...how could you go wrong with oatmeal and chocolate chips? I got a nice chuckle this morning while getting ready for work...my husband & son were in the kitchen talking and I heard son tell hub that I had not gotten him anything yet...then son said "Oh, I forgot Mom did get you something". I caught him before he could spill the beans though Whew! Almost...seems like my children are going to be like me...I can't stand not telling everyone what I've gotten them for Christmas...I've gotten better since I had children and the whole Santa thing and all...but I almost cannot contain myself where others are concerned. I love giving presents...I give presents to people all the time...might be something small like a book mark or something but I just love to see their faces when they receive an unexpected gift. So, that is why I am so excited about Christmas. I feel pretty confident in my gift choices for each family member...I just can't wait to give it to them! Hurry Christmas hurry! I may explode before it gets here. December 19 Santa Claus is coming!!By this time next week it will all be over....kinda sad when you think about all the preperations and planning that go on weeks before this one day. Then like almost instantly, it's over! I shopped this weekend....really got into the spirit. Not gift buying spirit...people and places...decorations, music,smells,sales....Wonderful!! My sister-in-law & I went (no children)...had a great time...got everything done before noon and went to lunch. Best time had so far. Looking forward to Christmas!! I bought my nephew (2 yr.old) a marching drum set...this will be so funny!! He really likes to bang on things (pots & pans), I can't wait! He will be so excited...might just be the best gift! I received everything I was expecting to be shipped except for the gifts I bought for the pets in our family. i have a rat terrier and my sis-n-law had a chihuahua and a pomerian. They are all treated like people and pampered beyond belief. My Ozzy is like a child (an active, adventtureous? 2 year old) he loves the children and plays with them until they are tired of playing. But most of all he thinks he is truly my "baby". There is nothing better than a long difficult day at work and coming home to the unconditional acceptance & love of a dog friend. Anyway, I'm going visiting. I'll leave comments where they are due. Until next time...Merry Christmas to all!! December 14 EbayLordy, I've been in bidding wars on ebay! That was my first time doing that...gosh...it's exhausting. Eventually, I lost or course...but I have learned how to bid and when...I'm just not a very patient person and tend to jump ahead of myself. Oh, well, I found a place on ebay that is called Ebay Express...I just bought the item I was looking for outright. It really didn't cost much more than the bidding areas...and shipping was cheaper. Now I just hope it gets here before Santa time. I've been visiting some spaces and really enjoy reading about everybody esle's lives...interesting...I don't feel so loony anymore. Til later... December 13 New Job Christmas PartyOH Brother!! We had our Christmas Party for this new job I am on...Let me give a little history. When I first interviewed with my new boss...I could just feel a physical attraction between us...I know he felt it too...these are things a woman just knows. Anyway, Saturday night at the Christmas Party (lots of drinking going on) everyone was having a grand time...band started playing and dancing insued...Boss asks me to dance...I accept...later in hallway to bathrooms...boss makes an advance...WOW!!! I cannot believe this is happening to me...What to do??? Really dreaded coming to work Monday...came on in since everyone is already come & gone when I get in at 8:00am...Boss comes in around 10:00ish...No off-color comments made...but I just feel this tension between us and he is actually being a lot more patient with me. How will this play out? I don't know...but I do know for sure that there is an attraction on both sides. This cannot be good...I don't want to leave this job as this is only the second job I've ever had in my entire life...first one lasted 20+ years. Making this change was not easy and I am just now starting to feel comfortable with the new responsibilities. HELP??!! This is not a joke...this actually happened. Why me?? I do not intentionally put out these sort of vibes (I don't think), although I have always gotten along with men than woman. I just feel more comfortable around them...OH Bother....Don't know what to do...This mess with all the Christmas stress is making my mind muddled! Gotta go visiting some freinds spaces...see how the sane half lives. December 06 RantingsWell, I finally made it back to my sapce...I can't ever sign in until late afternoon...I don't get it...probably a lack of computer smarts on my behalf...Anyway, we got the tree up last night...I let N&C (my children) put most of the ornaments on...except for my fav two..one is a resin Santa carrying a stack of toppling pots & pan...he even has a chef hat & apron on...the second is a glittery snowman snow boarding "down" the tree...it is very glittery...everything esle is ornaments N&C have made at day care/school/ from almost day one. The tree looks homey and charming...I don't like those "decorator" trees where everything is themed and matching...I love our tree. I changes but stays the same every year...I guess this weekend we'll tackle out lights & decor on the house...not my fav thing to do but the result is satisfying...and the children get kicks out of it...Got all my Santa shopping done online this morning...now we just wait for the shipment to arrive...Best Buys is a life saver!! I love online shopping as opposed to actually shopping...I'd rather pay shipping than physically go to the stores and shop...although, I'll have to do a little this weekend for other family and J (husband). I think I'll navigate around and visit a few of my fav spaces...have a great afternoon all...I hope to be able to sign back into tomorrow...I just love this blogging stuff!! December 01 Book tag"Your passport will be given back to you once the plane has touched down on American soil. You will not be harmed or held here, Mr. Fletcher-not if you cooperate with our inquiries-but you are being deported, let's be clear on that. Kicked out. Given what you Americans call the bum's rush."
Everything's Eventual-Stephen King
Finally Friday! Finally Friday!!! WOO HOO!! Chritmas parade tonight...it is really cold here...we are not expected to go above 50 today and tonight it will be in the 30's. Believe me this only happens about twice a year here...we'll probably be back in shorts & flip flops for Christmas. I love it (warm weather not cold). The children & I will have to wear a couple layers of clothes tonight to stay warm while riding in the parade. It should be fun anyway. Guess what I'm having for breakfast?? My own words...I mentioned that last night we were going shoe shopping (my fav thing)...we did and remember when I critized Crocs...well, cough** hack**, I bought myself another pair...these are real special though...they are collegeiate (spelling?) themed...Auburn Tigers! Dark blue & orange...I even got some jibs of tiger faces to go on them! Fun...Fun....Good news is that my 9 year old daughter got a pair of those boots that resemble Ugs...furry tops & furry insides...Guess what...she & I wear the same size shoe...I get to borrow them when she's not wearing them. So shoe shopping was a great success!! Better get to work and I need some water to wash down my breakfast LOL!! Have a great Friday everybody. I'll probably make an entry before I leave work today. November 30 Friends ListWho says you can't teach an old dog new tricks.....I've successfully added a "Friends" module and list to my space....YEAH for ME!!! I guess I'm not beyond learning this technical stuff afterall. What with practice and guidance I might even master actually posting pictures on here...I would love for you all to see my children. Well, guess what...on top of the new furniture for Christmas, mu husband is taking me shoe shopping tonight.....I
